New Christian Rock Band from Slanted Records Gets Early Nod

image DecembeRadio (L-R) Josh Reedy, Eric Miker and Brian Bunn DecembeRadio Named "Face to Watch for 2006" by BILLBOARD Magazine

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.-January 12th, 2006-DecembeRadio, the rock band recently signed to Slanted Records, the rock/pop imprint of Spring Hill Music Group, (a Christian Music Record Label) has just been named one of ten "Faces to Watch," according to the cover story of the January 7th issue of BILLBOARD Magazine.

The "Faces to Watch" artists were picked by ten of BILLBOARD Magazine's editors based on either having "highly anticipated debut albums ready to come out in the first quarter" or were considered to be "under-the-radar and...expected to explode at any moment," according to the magazine.

"I can't remember the last time a new band caught our attention and enthusiasm like DecembeRadio has," stated Vice President of CBA Sales for Word Distribution Jim Nehs. "The guys played our sales conference in December and rocked the house! Our team is still talking about it."

Album Review - Another Journal Entry by BarlowGirl

image Artist: BarlowGirl
Album: Another Journal Entry
Label: Fervent Records
Release Date: September 27, 2005

I know I've asked the question more than a few times, "Where are all the awesome female fronted Christian rock bands at?" We've got some awesome solo ladies, and some kickin' female members of bands, but how many female fronted Christian rock bands to you know of?

If you aren't familiar with them, then let me introduce you to BarlowGirl, the rockin'-est three sisters in Christian music. Their new album 'Another Journal Entry' is full of great songs, ranging in topics from God to purity to dating. The music on this album is rockin' (can you say rockin' too many times in an album review?), and the harmonies are as good as any out there. I mean, can you really beat three sisters who play and sing in a band for the glory of God?

If you dig female fronted Christian ROCK bands, then you need to check out BarlowGirl. Don't file these girls away in your 'pop/contemporary' folder, but be sure and add them to your heavy rotation! Well, what are you waiting for? Go Buy It! More...

Album Review - ...And The Rest Will Follow by Project 86

image Artist: Project 86
Album: ...And The Rest Will Follow
Label: Tooth & Nail Records
Release Date: September 27, 2005

Project 86 has always been known for their hard driving and intelligent heavy rock sound, and this album delivers on all counts in fine fashion. While not one for the faint of heart, this audio barrage of thought provoking lyrics and killer sounds is one of the best offers Project 86 has put out.

This album doesn't slow down one bit through out, much like a semi-truck barreling down the freeway. Intense & hard music with deep lyrics keep this one from getting too mudane, and you'd best listen to this one all the way through for full impact.

If your a fan of these guys, or a fan of heavy music in general, you won't be disappointed with this one. Go Buy It! More...

Concert Review: All God's Children Tour

image
My friends Al & Will called me up this past week and asked me if I would be interested in going to a concert with them. They said it was going to be this cool free concert with Paul Coleman, Tree63 & Building 429. Already, I was thinking to myself, "Wow, this sounds pretty cool. I might have to check this out." Then they told me it was free. "Free?" I thought. Then I knew I had to go. More...

Back From Oz and Into the Studio

image

As the guys returned from their first real tour of Australia (7 performances in 8 days, including a performance of Dare You To Move at the MTV Video Music Awards), Tim Foreman had this to say:

"Let me simply say this: Switchfoot loves Australia. This was our third time over there in the last 18 months, and each time we have a harder time leaving. The shows felt great, thanks to all the fine folks who crammed into the sweaty clubs to sing along with us. It's an amazing feeling to be on the other side of the world and have a few thousand people singing our songs louder than we are... it made us feel like family." More...

Sanctus Real: R&R's "Most Played Rock Artist" Of 2004

image

One of the most acclaimed Christian bands over the past year thanks to its dynamic FIGHT THE TIDE sophomore album, Sanctus Real has just received the "Most Played Rock Artist of 2004" recognition from Radio & Records (R&R) magazine.

The honor comes from a combination of four big Sanctus Real hits in 2004, two of them #1s. The Ohio band's cover of U2's "Beautiful Day," from IN THE NAME OF LOVE: ARTISTS UNITED FOR AFRICA, kicked off last year at #1 on the R&R Rock chart, where it stayed for four weeks. FIGHT THE TIDE's first single, "Everything About You," spent a combined eight weeks at #1 on R&R's Rock and Christian Hit charts last summer. Two subsequent FIGHT THE TIDE singles, "Alone" and "Things Like You," have currently climbed to #3 and #15 on R&R's Rock and Christian Hit charts respectively.
